Reading without an account

Lessons I Leave is a free website run by Billal Hossain. You can read every lesson without an account. Sign in to save lessons, submit quiz answers or leave a comment. Saved lessons are private to your account, and you can remove them from your profile.

Reader accounts and activity

With email signup, we store a protected password hash, not your password. Verification and password reset links expire and can be used once.

If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email address, and account identifier. We store these details with your quiz attempts and reflections so your activity can appear in your profile. Site administrators can review submitted reflections. Your quiz answers and scores are not published. The “What did you learn?” field is optional. Only the response you enter there may be published with your display name after admin review and approval. If you leave it blank, there is no reflection to publish. Your email address is not shown with public reflections.

Lesson emails

If you subscribe, we store your email, optional name and birth year, and email preferences. Birth year helps us recommend lessons for your age; no full date of birth is collected. We also record consent, confirmation and delivery history. These details are private. An email provider delivers messages you request. Each lesson email includes a private link to change preferences, pause or unsubscribe. Unsubscribing stops lesson emails; contact us to request deletion of your subscription record and delivery history.

New accounts include one practical lesson by email each week. Change the frequency or unsubscribe anytime in your profile. Your existing subscriptions and email preferences will be preserved.

Analytics and hosting

This site uses Google Analytics to understand visits and how readers use its pages. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as page views, browser and device details, and approximate location. The hosting provider may also process technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times, to deliver and protect the website.

Cookies and saved settings

Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser on this device. You can remove it by clearing site data. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings; clearing cookies does not necessarily stop future analytics collection.

Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. The email sharing link opens your email app; it does not send a message until you choose to send it. Your email provider handles that message.
